“Practicing Ecclesial Patience: Patient Practice Makes Perfect”
The Spirit of Christ is at work in the world, calling and sanctifiying a people to bear faithful witness to God’s in-breaking kingdom. Answering that call in our time and place likely demands that the church embody a different way of being in the world, one marked by God’s patient and faithful presence. Most congregations likely already embody a number of practices that have the potential to foster what we might call “slow church,” while plenty of other practices might also nurture and cultivate such faithful presence. Both kinds of practices will be named, and suggestions of additional practices will also be solicited from those in attendance.
