The Ekklesia Project held a regional gathering on the campus of the University of Indianapolis, November 7-8, entitled “Theological and Pastoral Engagements with the Concerns of Wendell Berry.” Our event piggybacked with existing programing of U of I. Nearly 50 people attended part or all of our regional gathering. On Monday afternoon, we heard Berry give a public reading, then ate dinner together with a brief presentation by Brent Laytham. After dinner, Norman Wirzba, editor of Mr. Berry’s collection of agrarian essays, The Art of the Commonplace, led a public conversation with Berry. On Tuesday, Kyle Childress presented in the morning on Berry and congregational life.
