A student looking for a tough ride 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Howdy, all. Sorry I've been away for a while.

I just talked to one of my comp students here at UGA, and although he's got a couple years to think on it, he'd like to go to a seminary that's going to challenge him. Initially he said that since he's a conservative, he'd like to go somewhere really liberal, but in the course of our conversation I steered him towards a third alternative, looking at seminaries _base_d not upon two-party political spectra but on things like language requirements, reading loads, and other such marks of academic rigor. (I'm an English teacher; I can't help it.)

I also directed him to this site, but before he gets here I thought I'd try to stir up a bit of chatter. What seminaries do you folks think might fit a student looking for a challenge?

I was challenged at Duke Divinity. I had attended another seminary (which will remain nameless) and found myself in 2/3 of my classes reading books by professors at Duke. And i asked myself, why read the books when i can talk with the writers. And so i transfered.
